John has been a Wedding and Corporate Events DJ for over 20 years www.disco79.com and a singer for as long as he can remember. Born in 1960 in Aberdeen John's earliest memory of music was when he was 4 years old. John's parents gave him a toy guitar for his birthday in March 1964 and John recalls standing outside his house singing along to The Beatles re-release of She Loves You in April 1964 whilst pretending to play the guitar. Throughout his childhood music and in particular singing was always a passion and being a bit of a show off John loved singing to all of his friends and would often be picked to sing in school productions. In later years John joined the army and singing also featured throughout his army career. In the 1990's John sang with bands. It was in 1990 that he fell in love with Swing music. He went to the cinema to see Memphis Belle and it was Harry Connick Jr's rendition of Danny Boy that inspired him to find out more about the singer and he was hooked. John then began listening to the greats, Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole and many others and was fascinated by the different styles of each of the artists. Now with the huge revival of Swing as a genre mainly due to the likes of Harry Connick Jr, Robbie Williams and Michael Bublé, John loves nothing more than to listen to and sing along to all these wonderful songs. They bring a raft of emotions from happy to sad to happy again. That is why I love Swing. John is 6' 5" tall and is a showman through and through. On the 19th June 2011 John was the opening act at DeFest in Surrey. He sang a 45 minute set to a large audience and had the crowd waving their arms, clapping their hands, dancing and singing along. The show was broadcast live on FM via Ridge Radio which reaches listeners all over the world. Directly following the show John received several enquiries and confirmed bookings.
